I come from a place
I come from a place
where sunlight wakes slowly
across the face of snowdrops
and morning dew clings gently
to grasses below.
I come from a place
where grassy hills laugh and roll together joyously
and the sweet smoke
of a warm-bellied fire
leads me home in winters rain.
I come from a place
where cool grassy streams sing a song
of raindrops reunited
and ducks who have names
spend their days grazing.
I come from a place
where cream calla lillies
of single petal bloom
uncurl tenderly unto the sun.
I come from a place
where stardust hangs suspended over night sky
and mountains stand quietly,
listening and holding all that moves.
I come from a place
where the river hums soft lullabies
to mama moon and me,
so we might rest gently, upon her clay shoulders.
I come from a place
not far away,
and not too close either.
